چکیده

Diabetic Ulcers Heal Faster With Hyperbaric Oxygen Diabetes is a disease that affects the small blood vessels in the tissues which results in wounds or ulcers that may last months to years. These wounds often develop from incidental injuries to the body and may become infected which can spread to the deeper tissues and the bones and may even require amputation. HBOT can help heal these wounds frequently without surgery.

Treatment of nervous system injuries by hyperbaric oxygen: a review of molecular mechanisms

Background and aims: The use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy is one of the treatment methods to treat many diseases and injuries such as decompression sickness, wound healing, carbon monoxide poisoning, thermal burns, and nervous system injuries. This article aims to review the possible mechanisms of the effectiveness of this treatment in neurological injuries according to the available studies...

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy of diabetic foot ulcers, transcutaneous oxymetry in clinical decision making.

The foot ulcer is one of most common and devastating complications of diabetes and is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. The major causes of these ulcers are ischemia/hypoxia, neuropathy, and infection, and they often coexist. Despite conventional therapy including revascularization procedures when appropriate, three situations lead frequently to amputation: persistent critic...

Understanding hyperbaric oxygen therapy and its use in the treatment of compromised skin grafts and flaps.

Nonhealing wounds represent a problem involving inadequate oxygenation of the tissues that can lead to hypoxic injury. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be used as an adjunctive therapy for compromised grafts and flaps that have failed to show improvement with standard wound therapy and offer additional physiologic benefits in the reversal of wound hypoxia and hypoperfusion. A literature review con...

Effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy combined with autologous platelet concentrate applied in rabbit fibula fraction healing

OBJECTIVES The purpose is to study the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and autologous platelet concentrates in healing the fibula bone of rabbits after induced fractures. METHODS A total of 128 male New Zealand albino rabbits, between 6-8 months old, were subjected to a total osteotomy of the proximal portion of the right fibula. After surgery, the animals were divided into four groups (...

Effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on healing of diabetic foot ulcers.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be used as an adjunct to standard wound care in the treatment of diabetic patients with foot ulcers. We undertook a prospective, randomized investigation of the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy versus standard therapy for the treatment of foot ulcers in diabetic patients. A number of demographic variables were analyzed in regard to wound healing. We noted that foot...

Adjunctive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy promotes successful healing in patients with refractory Crohn's disease.

PURPOSE To investigate de adjunctive effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in a group of patients with refractory Crohn's disease. METHODS A total of 29 subjects with refractory Crohn's disease were submitted to daily sessions of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, in a 2800 Sechrist Monoplace Hyperbaric Chamber (Sechrist, USA) pressurized to 2.4 ATA. Each session lasted 2 hours. The endpoint was closur...
